Trail Rides

Will you choose a slow and easy ride? Or perhaps you are a bit more adventurous and would like to try a canter through mountain trails with the breeze against your face. The Red Barn Ranch is pleased to offer tailor-made horseback trips to its guests.

Our gentle, sure-footed horses will carry you in comfortable Western saddles on hourly, half- or full-day rides along a variety of beautiful trails.

Perhaps you would like to ride side-by-side on the historic Kettle Valley trail...or maybe you would prefer a climb to a beautiful lake view. Picnic spots abound, beside peaceful mountain-top lakes, or overlooking the city of Summerland - and a homestyle lunch will be prepared just for you. Linger quietly over lunch, and perhaps you will see graceful deer grazing amongst the trees, or a shy black bear as he hunts for berries in summer.

Boarders are responsible for cleaning their own paddocks. Barn on site. Stalls available on an “as need” basis, ie medical emergencies, etc.

We boarder on to endless miles or mountain trails. We are also a 20 minute ride to the Summerland Rodeo Grounds.

We have 30 years experience with horses and do our best to meet your horses needs and keep them as safe as possible.

Rates: $300 per month basic (extra charges may apply for certain requests)

We strive for a friendly, respectful atmosphere at our stable and to date, have been very blessed with wonderful boarders. Our goal is that you feel respected and comfortable while at the ranch while demonstrating the same attitude towards others.

Horse Leases

We offer a limited amount of partial horse leases. This program is where a competent and independent rider can partially lease one of our trail/lesson horses. This allows you half time riding rights. Contact us for further information on this program. This is a lovely way to either get started, or get “back into” horses without the total commitment of purchasing a horse, paying full board, plus all up-keep expenses.

Rate: $200 per month.

Riding Lessons

Riding lessons are available for all ages. Typically, starting at age 8, younger children can be accommodated under certain guidelines. We specialize in Western Riding lessons. Particularly, developing a solid riding foundation, and slowing working up from there. Please feel free to contact us for more information.

Rate: $45 per hour.

Sponsoring a child for Spirit Wrangler
Many children would love to attend our camps, but are unable due to financial restrictions. If you feel led to sponsoring a child to one of our camps, please contact me for further information.
Spirit Wranglers is a Christian based horse camp operating in Summerland, BC. We have been in operation since 2005
and have been privileged to witness many wonderful and rewarding changes in the children who have come to Spirit Wranglers.
Spirit Wrangler’s Vision Statement
To provide a fun and safe learning environment for young horse lovers who will also learn about the saving love of God through the gift of his son Jesus Christ.

Our camps run for three days. We structure our camps based on both age and riding ability. The younger children (ages 8-10 approximately) typically require more one-on-one instruction and care. These DAY CAMPS run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The older children (ages 11 and up approximately) tend to be able to ride more independently.
Day Camps $315 (3 days)

Volunteers Wanted

Red Barn Ranch is always looking for volunteers for our Kids Christian Camps. The role of a volunteer is to guide and assist children in their horse skills ie, grooming, saddling, riding, and chores (ie feeding, cooking, kitchen duties). Younger children require more one-on-one attention, where as older children ride more independently. Riding is not “usually” a component for the volunteer, so volunteers should be aware of this when applying.

Desirable characteristics we look for are :
  • Maturity
  • Patience
  • Horse experience
  • Willingness to help others
  • Horse experience is not essential as there are also many other jobs, ie, kitchen duties, etc.

If you are interested in helping out, please contact us for further information.
